Live with a English Toy Spaniel (ET)

English Toy Spaniel

Vital Statistics:

  • Life span: 12 -14 years
  • Adult weight: 8-14 pounds
  • Adult height: 9-11 inches

Note: people often confuse the English Toy Spaniel (known as the Charlie) with the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

The Charlie is the smaller dog with the scrunched up nose. The Cavalier is the larger dog with the long nose. If you see one, you'll understand. I explain the history of the two cousins in the report on each breed.

What's good and bad about the ET?

Pros:

  • Grooming requirements are low, just brush regularly
  • He's perfect for an apartment and a couch potato owner
  • Calm and quiet

Cons:

  • He'll wheeze
  • He'll shed, a lot
  • His gentle nature is best for adult households although
he gets along well with well-behaved children and other animals

Here's a minute-and-a-half video of a full grown ET.
